Wahine Day 2026
We were proud to host our 5th annual Wahine Day for the Cottesloe Longboard Club - an event that continues to grow stronger, is very special and is close to our hearts.
After having to postpone our original March date (thanks, Hurricane Noeleen!), we finally came together on April 19th - and it could not have been more worth the wait. We were treated to a stunning sunny day, clean conditions and best of all, some proper waves rolling through.
We kicked off the morning with a guided stretching session led by our wonderful Nazli. Exactly what our bodies needed on a Sunday morning. While we all gave it our best effort, there were definitely a few wandering eyes as some tempting sets rolled in (sorry, Naz!).
Next up was a flower crown crash course led by our super star Ziggy, with a helping hand from our beloved Mom, Chloe. The pair generously sourced flowers from their neighbour’s garden and prepared beautiful bases for us to work with. Such a thoughtful touch that made the morning even more special. Thank you both!
From there, we headed down to the water for a group circle. Everyone shared a little about themselves - their favourite surf memory and how long they’ve been part of the club. It was a really grounding moment that reminded us, what Wahine Day is all about: connection, community and celebrating each other.
With introductions done, we made our way over to Isolated for a big group surf. What followed was party waves, cheers and plenty of laughter in the lineup.
After our session, we were welcomed back to shore by our amazing volunteer Shawn, who had a hot BBQ ready and waiting for us. Absolute legend - thank you, Shawn! A big thank you as well to Joe for organising the trailer and helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes.
The entire day was beautifully captured by our talented committee member Maxi Scott, ensuring we have plenty of memories to look back on.

Wahine Day continues to be one of the most special days on our club calendar. It’s about bringing women together, sharing waves, lifting each other up and celebrating the unique community we’ve built.
